Every May long weekend, something truly special happens in the Southern Downs — the charming town of Allora throws open its arms and welcomes locals and visitors alike to experience a weekend of small-town magic. The Allora Autumn Festival is a heartwarming nod to the past, a celebration of the present, and a vibrant toast to the future.
The festival spans the entire May long weekend, but Sunday 4 May takes centre stage with A Day on the Dalrymple, the feature event held in Dalrymple Park. This much-loved day brings the community together for a full-scale celebration, complete with live music, food vans, carnival rides, 80+ market stalls, and a packed schedule of entertainment — all set along the picturesque banks of Dalrymple Creek.
The success of last year’s event, which introduced changes such as relocating the markets to the park and shifting the celebration from the main street to the creekside, was met with praise and enthusiasm from attendees. Building on that momentum, organisers hope to grow the festival into an iconic annual experience — one that truly stands the test of time.
With the help of other local community groups and businesses, the Allora Autumn Festival spreads its charm across the entire weekend. From heritage town walks and quirky cemetery tours to vintage and custom vehicle displays, local artists, and culinary delights, there’s truly something for everyone. Visitors can even download the Southern Downs & Granite Belt Visitor App and take one of the many scenic drives or local walks to explore the beauty of the region over the long weekend. It’s a celebration that blends the richness of tradition with the joy of modern community life.
The Allora Community Circle, made up entirely of dedicated volunteers, is working together to establish the event as a key fixture on the Southern Downs event calendar. “We want this to be our very own music festival, with a beating heart — right here in the best little town on the Downs,” said Community Circle President Krissy Henry. “We want visitors to fall in love with Allora just as much as we have.”
The event is proudly delivered by the Allora Community Circle and supported by generous local businesses, whose sponsorship makes the entire festival possible. Their contribution not only brings joy to the region but also strengthens tourism and fosters a thriving local economy.
Day on the Dalrymple will run from 2pm to 8pm on Sunday 4 May, with carnival rides, inflatables, face painting, a bar, live music on the main stage, and more. Entry is just $5 for adults, and children enter free. All-day ride armbands are available for $25.
Those interested in getting involved or becoming a sponsor are encouraged to reach out to the team via allorafestival@gmail.com. The Allora Community Circle has a 2025 sponsorship booklet available for anyone looking to partner with and invest back into this wonderful community. The team is always happy to connect and chat about ways to be part of the festival.
The Allora Autumn Festival is a celebration of community spirit, country hospitality, and the kind of magic only a small town can offer.
