On Saturday 12th October Killarney School is celebrating 150 years of Education. Everyone is invited to attend the day at the school and then on Saturday Night we are having a gala dinner at the Recreation Club and then a Recovery Breakfast on the Sunday morning at the same venue. 

We will have lots of memorabilia on show which should bring back great memories for everyone who is a past student of the school. 

Over the years the school has changed greatly with many more classrooms and buildings being built. 

In the 1950's  there  were only two buildings, with the lower building for the lower classes, you then moved up to the high building to do Scholarship in year 8. When the students passed Scholarship many went on to Warwick High School to complete years 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Some of the students travelled to Warwick by railmotor and were picked up by bus from the train station and transported to the High School. After the railway line to Killarney closed in the 1960's all the students travelled to Warwick by bus.

Now days the children can attend Killarney to year 10  then if they want to go on to years 11 and 12 they travel to Warwick by bus.

There was a tennis court in the 1950's but  other sporting fields were very limited. Now the children have the sports oval down near the river for sport with other schools travelling to Killarney for different sports events.

Every year the school runs the cross country motor bike event which brings bike riders from far and wide. This is a wonderful fund raiser for the school. 

Killarney School is a beautiful place to gain education and I am sure the students will leave with wonderful memories.
