Since 2003 Frank has been a well-known figure around Warwick always accompanied by his guide dog.

Despite being blind and having to rely on his dog to get around, Frank achieved a great deal over the years both for DAG Force, his disability action group, Warwick Blind and Vision Impaired and also for many other people through these and other sources.

For many years he was a fixture in front of the Warwick Rose Shopping centre and also inside in front of Big W.

While selling raffle tickets Frank was able to offer advice and assistance to countless people that were in need.  At their request he passed their details to the committee to follow up and assist them if needed.

Among the many businesses and people that offered support, Frank was so appreciative of Big W, Big W DC, Woolworths, Bunnings, IGA, Samios, Carey Bros, Gardens Galore, Condamine Sports Club, Warwick Golf Club, MYB Gary & Mandy Russell-Sharam, Hynes Newsagency, Holyoake Family, Paul Graham Killarney, Plan B, Nigel Computer Tech, Dude on Karaoke, and Glen Miller now with his own trials.

DAG Force Disability Action Group had an office in town for several years at various locations but on the advent of Disability Services Queensland and then NDIS coming to town, a DAG Force office was no longer required.  This meant no rent and thus more money for the needy.

In later years meeting were held at the Condamine Sports club where after the meeting a leisurely lunch was enjoyed.

Frank’s dog knew his way in and out of many businesses as Frank walked many kilometres over the years selling blind dog calendars as well as selling raffles tickets for DAG Force and looking for sponsors to assist the more needy of us.

The younger people of Warwick have fond memories of Frank walking beside him when they went to Central School.

Frank also assisted new people in town when they were looking for services.

His secretary and PA for many years was Monica Ward who relocated from Canberra with her husband John.  Monica happened to buy raffle tickets of Frank when she first arrived in Warwick and Monica and was immediately hooked on helping Frank.  Her husband Dr John Ward was treasurer for some years.

Monica set up Franks table, counted and banked all the proceeds from the raffles so he could just get up and go when he was finished. Coffee and donuts were also always delivered to his table.

Monica is now the president of DAG Force.  DAG Force will continue in Franks memory.  Perhaps not in the form that it was originally, but will be co-operating with other like-minded groups such as the Demented Artists Group Warwick, M S Services Toowoomba and various others.
