Prominent Warwick livestock agency, McDougall and Sons, this year celebrates its 130th anniversary of service to the local community as Stock & Station Agents. This unique record dates back to the pioneer days of 1890, which makes the business the oldest performing Stock & Station Agency in Queensland. 

The Company, which was founded by well-known horse and cattle breeder Mr Charles Edward McDougall, along with Messrs W.R Robinson and Saville, initially traded as McDougall, Robinson & Saville. Renowned for breeding outstanding Thoroughbred horses, enjoying race success in the McDougall colours, in the early days Mr McDougall was based at Lyndhurst Stud. From these small beginnings, the passing of time saw the baton handed through generations, and from the early tradition of open auction sales through to today’s modern livestock selling arenas.  The current owner, Jennifer Brown, who purchased the business alongside her late husband Jim 37 years ago, has seen many changes to the livestock industry. Jim Brown, who was a renowned sheep and cattle Agent, led the business alongside Jennifer and local staff to continue the vision of the company’s forefathers. To this day, Jennifer’s goal for the company is simple; ’to provide good, consistent and fair trading for our clients and buyers.’ This is made possible with long serving agents Dennis Bourke and Ross Ellis.

McDougall & Sons Stock & Station Agents operates out of the Southern Downs Regional Council Warwick Saleyards for the weekly Cattle and Sheep sales, as well as the privately owned Pig & Calf Saleyards in Warwick. The Pig & Calf Sale is a favourite Wednesday morning adventure for many locals, where they can bid on anything from a pig, through to a kitchen sink in the sundry sale.
