A passion for numbers must be in the Barlow family blood

For those without a head for figures the thought of working as an Accountant might seem a boring occupation.
However, Paul Barlow who, with business partner Rod Dolling, owns Barlow Dolling Accountants in Warwick, insists that for those like himself who love numbers, order and precision, it can be a truly exciting and rewarding job.
And this passion for numbers must be in the Barlow family blood – Paul’s father Ian was an accountant all of his life and inspired his son to follow him into the profession. In turn, Paul has inspired his own children, with son Alex following him into the family business and his youngest son Ben is presently half-way through his accountancy degree. His nephew Brad Barlow is also an accountant in the family firm.
Over the 32 years Paul has been in the business he has seen some major changes, especially the transition from pen and paper to today’s accounting software. Memorable moments include the introduction of the GST in 2000, which Paul describes as a “monumental watershed moment that completely changed the way we did things” through to assisting local businesses through the recent impacts from the Covid 19 epidemic.
When he’s not busy working with numbers, Paul attends the occasional car rally with his pride and joy – a 1973 Ford Falcon XA Hardtop Coupe. And, as a keen movie-goer, he loves to escape from the world and all its distractions in front of the big screen. Listening to music is also a favourite pastime, especially groups from the 1980s – an era Paul reckons just can’t be beaten.
Barlow Dolling Accountants, located at 84 Grafton Street, Warwick, offers all general public accounting and taxation services and all types of business advice.
