A remarkable journey of friendship, community, and connection unfolds as the Queensland Country Women's Association (QCWA) Condamine Valley/Warwick Branch celebrates a century of service. What began as a humble endeavour in April 1924, aimed at improving the lives of women and children in rural areas, has blossomed into an enduring legacy of support and generosity.

The QCWA Condamine Valley/Warwick Branch, born from the merger of the Condamine and Warwick Branches, epitomizes resilience and adaptability. In 1962, the Condamine Valley/Warwick Branch relocated to the Bochman’s Building on Grafton Street. In February 1966, the old building was replaced, and the current building at 76 Grafton Street was officially opened by QCWA State President Mrs. J.N. Speed O.B.E. on October 13, 1966.

Led by pioneering figures like Mrs. A.S. McDougall and Mrs. E.A.V. Sterne, the QCWA Condamine Valley/Warwick Branch has left an indelible mark on the community. Their initiatives have ranged from setting up essential services like baby clinics and dental care for children to offering financial assistance during droughts.

Thanks to the longstanding support of volunteers and customers of the Tea Rooms, the branch has made significant donations to various community organizations. Additionally, every year, they honour Anzac Day and Remembrance Day by laying wreaths, and they participate in the Jumpers 'n' Jazz festivities by decorating a tree. Furthermore, they provide three $2000 bursaries annually to graduating students who encounter financial difficulties in pursuing their tertiary education.

As they celebrate their 100th anniversary, the branch acknowledges the foresight of Mrs. Ruth Fairfax, whose vision laid the groundwork for their enduring legacy. Their achievements stand as a testament to the dedication and resilience of the members, past and present.

As the branch reflects on its proud history and looks ahead with optimism, they applaud their inaugural members and all those who have contributed over the years.
