At just 17, local student Taylor Zagata is already making her mark as a thoughtful and driven young leader. Recently recognised with Zonta’s Young Women in Leadership Award for her district, Taylor’s achievements reflect both her dedication to her studies through the School of Total Education and her growing contribution to community life. 

Her involvement with the Southern Downs Youth Council in 2025 further highlights her passion for youth advocacy and engagement, as well as her willingness to step forward and represent her peers.

Taylor’s impact extends well beyond the classroom. As a volunteer at Darling Downs Zoo, she assists with animal care while helping educate visitors, a role that speaks to her compassion and strong sense of responsibility. She is also actively involved with Crime Stoppers Warwick, supporting initiatives that promote community safety and awareness. 

Whether working with animals or engaging with community programs, Taylor approaches each opportunity with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make a difference.

Adding to an already impressive list of achievements, Taylor has recently been appointed to the Australian Parliament Youth Advisory Council. This prestigious role places her among a select group of young Australians representing their generation at a national level. Through this position, she will contribute to discussions shaping policies that impact young people, ensuring regional voices are part of the conversation.

Coming from a rural background, Taylor brings valuable insight into challenges such as access to education, digital connectivity and opportunities for young people outside metropolitan areas. Her perspective will help advocate for greater equity and inclusion for regional communities, ensuring their needs are recognised and addressed.
