With exclusive access to 12 private properties, the Untamed Border Run is an event not to be missed. On a perfect winter’s day 50km runners may be rewarded with a view to Brisbane over 120km away. All 3 courses cross between NSW and QLD on farm and forestry tracks. Emerging from temperate rainforest into glorious farmland, runners will be blown away by the beauty of the area. This is not an easy run and competitors may well choose to walk at times, but the views from the mountains to the lowlands will ease the pain of climbing some big hills. 

The Untamed Border Run will be challenging but well worth the effort.

Untamed Border Run 50km starts at top of the Main Range with spectacular views towards Brisbane and Mt Barney.  After a short (900 metres) bitumen section, the course leads into private property and traverses along a slashed, defined track for approximately 8 km.  This track runs parallel with the Rabbit Fence (managed by the Darling Downs Moreton Rabbit Board).  Crossing into NSW and onto a gazetted road with minimal traffic, runners will be rewarded with magnificent undulating terrain.  Running on back country roads for approximately 12km the course then leads into private property before traversing a creek line to avoid a road crossing, to the start of the 21km course. Spectators are welcome at this location. 

Meandering through private property runners will view beautiful dams covered with lilies, ducks and prolific birdlife on the ponds and through temperate rainforest to emerge on a hill with glorious views to the east. 

A quick jog down the hill to swing past the start of the 10km course. Spectators are welcome here to cheer on the 50km & 21km runners.  From the start of the 10km runners will enjoy 360 degree views and, at times, catch glimpses of the township of Killarney below.  

Runners will need to negotiate a few tight turns towards the end of the course before running along the road verge for approximately 1.3km to the Killarney Showgrounds. A little twist in and around the showgrounds will keep the competition fierce to the finish shoot. 

Adequate signage will be in place to advise runners of the route including upcoming obstacles, grids, etc.   All crossings will be well signposted &/or manned by volunteers. 

Loud cheering for the runners as they cross the finish line will be encouraged. 

Untamed Border Run is the initiative of Susie Williams & Gavin Blissner. Both come from an extensive background in endurance sports including Adventure Racing, Running, Triathlon, Mountaineering and Orienteering.    Competing and volunteering for the past 30 years in nature-based events means they have the experience and credentials to organise an event of this calibre.
